ZASKA

 

As a 90’s child of Bavarian descent growing up in Wicklow, ZASKA seems to have come from a different place and era altogether. His stage identity of Guitarist + Frontman paired with his off-stage Composition + Arrangement talents has made him a complete musical anomaly in the Irish scene.

Having completed a B.A. in Jazz Performance in Newpark Music Centre, he has found a way of channelling complex and unconventional composition techniques through a feel-good blend of funk and soul reminiscent of Steely Dan, Frank Zappa, and Haitus Kaiyote.

 

With an entertainer’s soul fuelled by a supernova of raw energy backed by an 8-piece supergroup of Dublin’s most in demand proefessional musicians, Zaska’s famous live shows are a force to be reckoned with - consistently bringing the house down both metaphorically and almost physically too.

 

After the release of their debut EP In Your Own Sweet Time along with a sold out launch gig in The Sugar Club in May 2014, he took the Irish gig circuit by storm over the summer with headline sets at Knockanstockan, Goldenplec’s showcase series, and more leaving audiences calling them the “best live band in Dublin”. They then capped the year off with the release of their 2nd EP Different Light in November, which was named Goldenplec’s Irish EP of 2014, firmly establishing the band as one of Ireland’s most unique and exciting prospect. 

 

2015 saw them debut at Ireland's top festivals including Electric Picnic, Hard Working Class Heroes and the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival.
