If you have seen Crow Black Chicken perform live, then you would be desperate for their live performances to be captured on a live album for you to listen to again and again. Thankfully the wait is over and the live album is no longer just a hope, it’s a reality. If you haven’t seen them live, then you are in for a treat with this album as it brilliantly captures the energy the band creates in venues around Ireland. The album was recorded over three live shows in The Gypsy Rose in Dublin, Baker’s in Clonmel and Cobblestone Joe’s in Limerick.

“Deep South” features songs from both of Crow Black Chicken’s previous albums, “Electric Soup” and “Rumble Shake”. It also boasts three new tracks, “Justice”, “Panta Rhei” and ”Freedom”.

The album opens with “John Lee Wee” which showcases the bands blues credentials in what is the shortest sogn on an album of fairly long songs.

“Deep South” accurately portrays the bands much talked about live shows by keeping in a lot of the crowd interaction from lead singer Christy and the obvious rapport he has with the fans as they feel just as comfortable shouting things back at him.

A Crow Black Chicken live performance is no quick walk in the park, the boys take you on a long journey with them, a journey similar to that from Lord Of The Rings. You will start the journey like a fresh faced Frodo but come out the other end like a sweaty Gollum. This particular journey doesn’t end by throwing a ring into the fire, it does however end with a rip roaring version of “John The Revelator”. This song is worth the price of admission alone.

“Deep South” will be released on June 12th and is available to pre-order on the official Crow Black Chicken website. The band also have some tour dates on the site so you can catch them live and see what all the fuss is about for yourself.

Standout Tracks: “Jessie Mae”, “John The Revelator” and “John Lee Wee"
